 KMS REVIEWS
The whole concept of the track Calypso is a perfect mix of tension and chill. Probably the guys of Soul Push created a new genre with this track. This, folks, is the first chillension track ever created.
With the song being about a relationship that you don’t know how to leave, the emotional (and sometimes almost desperate) vocals really put me into the place of the one pleading, when the dreamy high pitched vocals released pressure, injecting some relaxing elements right into my bloodstream.”

DANSENDE BEREN
Soul Push even sounds a bit like a cross-pollination between the catchy indie rock of Foals and the danceable funk-soul of Jungle on Diamonds. The combination is wonderfully contagious and puts a big smile on our face. We will hear a lot from Soul Push in the future, at least that much is clear.”

ELEVATOR MAG
“Anyone who is in touch with the sensitivities and motivations of most music bloggers in this day and age knows most are concerned with “finds” and discovering artists before their counterparts, and I must say that Soul Push is one of the best bands that I have ever had the pleasure of stumbling across on YouTube. Not only is their track Diamonds an absolutely addicting tune, but their accompanying visual is packed with charisma and insight into the band that clearly has no shortage of fun when they get together.”

EAR TO THE GROUND
“The up beat nature of this track definitely puts it in a pop category. Even the mix on the vocals feels like it was designed for people to sing along. The familiar “Diamonds are forever” lyrics make it easy to embrace and sing along. The entire piece feels like a mashup of styles from the past 30 years or so. The piece is as much a production feat as a straight up music performance and we’re totally supportive. The end product is engaging and infectiously positive.”

PHONOGRAPH ME
Calypso is a song marked by the voice of Conan Jurek, the band's frontman who was also responsible for making the wonderful accompanying video. It's an intense song that talks about relationships you can't escape.
It was the creativity and sound of the Canadian band that struck me most: the use of percussion in the right place, the guitars that don't occupy the space of the other instruments, the different layers that make up the music and the voice (which I can't get enough of).”

EAR TO THE GROUND
"I’ve just got to say, right off the bat, that I loved this video so much that I almost did a straight-up YouTube Gem on it alone. It’s stunning, with its choreography, concept, and imagery. But what about the music, you ask? I’ll tell you! It’s punchy and purposeful. Boom. The Calypso beat is pretty much a given here, but what I really enjoyed was the “elementary-school-Cassio-keyboard” sound of that beat. The vocals are delicious and rich. The harmonies are perfectly layered when they need to be and hang on the melody line on the chorus, which is very smart. I love everything about this track (and subsequent video)!”

PRETTY IN NOISE
"Soul Push
is this one band that always gives you exactly what you do not expect - in a positive way. Somewhere between R'n'B, rock-pop, gospel, soul and many synths, Canadians float through their already released EPs. In their new track Calypso they deal with relationships in which one is somehow trapped. We celebrate it all!”

MESSED UP MAGAZINE
”Canadian four-piece Soul Push went straight in on our high rotation list in 2016 when they released EP “Neon Jungle”, filled with catchy pieces of indie pop that is definitely infectious. Just recently they released a new single called “Diamonds”, an absolutely addicting tune, and rumour says that they plan to release a new song every month, each with it’s own catalogue of photo-shoots fitting the aesthetic.”
